John P. Cheevers - Lawyer

My name is John Cheevers and I have practiced law in Vancouver since I was called to the bar of British Columbia in 1977. I knew while studying law in both Europe and Canada that I would make my career practicing Criminal Law. Since 1977 I have practiced criminal defence law in British Columbia. I have also conducted criminal cases across Canada.

Over the 30 years of my career, I have successfully defended clients charged with everything from Murder to Theft under $5000.00. I defend all offences in the Criminal Code and drug offences found in the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. I have conducted cases in every court level in British Columbia, from Provincial Court to the Court of Appeal, including the now-extinct County Court.

I work with a group of young, highly-regarded criminal lawyers.  One thing we have in common is a history of successes in courts around B.C.  As well, we treat our clients the way we would expect to be treated: with respect.

I keep my clients fully informed of the progress on their file. As any experienced criminal lawyer will tell their client, preparation and experience are usually the key to winning at trial.
